Turns out Justin Bieber's male attacker — who reportedly knocked the 17-year-old teen dream to the ground this morning outside his fragrance event at Macy's Herald Square in NYC — was only trying to protect him as the man is now being reported as an undercover cop.
When Justin was greeting his fans outside of the event, the crowd reportedly became a little bit aggressive and an undercover cop went to help him, TMZ reports.

But Bieber allegedly didn't know the man, who was dressed as a civilian, was a police officer and thought he was a crazed fan, which reportedly made him defensive.
Then a member of Justin's security team grabbed the cop away from JB.
TMZ reports that after the cop identified himself he then "cited" the security team member for "disorderly conduct."
