The world watched as Kate Middleton did the same thing every bride does — look her best for her nuptials. But now, with even more scrutiny on her as a newlywed, the royal figure is undergoing criticism over her weight, which Kate, 29, insists is not a problem.

“It’s so frustrating to her that everyone is talking about her weight,” a royal insider tells OK!. “Everyone is trying to make her out to have an eating disorder. Kate wishes people would just back off and stop making a scandal where there is none.”
While Kate did lose weight before saying “I do” to Prince William in April, the insider says her regimen was sensible. “She was reminded time and time again by image experts how the camera adds 10 pounds, so naturally she started watching her weight before her wedding,” says the insider. “She cut out almost all carbs and she just had so much nervous energy that she was burning calories all the time.”
Reportedly, Kate also started following the Dukan Diet — a plan similar to the Atkins Diet that her mom, Carole, had lost weight with. “Kate does a modified version,” says a source. “She eats high protein and low carbs, but she lets herself have fruit, nuts, cheese and whole-grain pasta. She also eats a lot of beans, especially vegetarian refried beans.”

For Kate, “soups and salads are staples of her diet. She tries to avoid processed or packaged foods,” says the source. “She also drinks tons of water with lemon, for its detoxifying properties.”
“Kate comes from a very diet-conscious family. Her mom loves the lean, elegant look and that’s what Kate aspires to, as opposed to sickly and waifish,” says the source. In fact, Kate has a sweet tooth for gummi bears. “It’s her weakness,” says the source. “She treats herself once a month.”
“Kate also loves to cook and she has been pictured shopping at her local supermarket,” royal commentator Victoria Arbiter tells OK!. “As slim as she is, she is healthy.”
