Katie Holmes Refuses to Call Tom Cruise by Name in Upcoming Interview

Only a few short days before Katie Holmes' lawyer would announce to the world her plans to split from Tom Cruise, the actress donned a slinky black dress for the September cover of C magazine and carefully skated around the issue of her marriage.

Senior editor Kelsey McKinnon, none the wiser about the storm brewing beneath the surface, attempted to ask a few questions about Tom and their relationship, but was met with distant and standoffish answers.
For starters, Katie refused to say the name "Tom Cruise" — or even "Tom" for that matter.
"Going back over the tapes, there were signs: Holmes was certainly very aware of herself, laying a couple cards on the table but never showing her whole hand,” he wrote. "She never actually refers to him by name over pages and pages of transcription.”
When asked if Suri brought the pair closer, she gave a noncommittal "I don't know," and then flippantly said, "People have been having babies a long time."

Instead, the designer and actress preferred to talk about her work and goals for the future. She will star in the upcoming Broadway play Dead Accounts, and is a co-designer for her brand, Holmes and Yang.
"I feel like I worked so much at such a young age that I really wanted to have life experiences. I feel more balanced and like I have more to bring to the table," she told the magazine. "I always felt like I wanted to catch up in my personal life to what I was doing in my career."
