She hosted Saturday Night Live and voiced a character in The Smurfs, but now Katy Perry is taking on a TV sitcom and guest starring on the Fox comedy Raising Hope.
The pop star nabbed a role thanks to her real-life BFF and star of the show, Shannon Woodward, who asked Katy if she'd like to make a special appearace.

"Shannon Woodward is my best friend," Katy said in a statement. "A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something ‘fun' for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show. I thought, ‘Sure, I have nothing else to do, and I like chillin' with my best friend.' "
Katy will play Rikki, a not-so-attractive prison guard — check out the photo Katy Tweeted — who looks after Sabrina (Shannon) after she's locked up in jail for two weeks following her involvement in a protest. Rikki claims that she knows Sabrina from their past and tries her best to make her "friend's" prison stay miserable. (This should be interesting.) OK! "Creator Greg Garcia was nice, but I hope he's not secretly sabotaging my potential future career by typecasting me in the role of just a looker so that I would never be able to play anything more challenging," Katy said, sarcastically. Make sure to catch her appearance on Raising Hope March 6!
