Although Kelly Osbourne seems like an unlikely – but irresistible! – choice to provide commentary for the Miss USA Pageant, she has secretly been a beauty queen aficionado for years.
“I didn’t even think a year ago that I would do something like this, but it’s all these fun things that have started to happen to me that I would say regular or normal girls, that they go through in their teens, that in my family I could never admit ‘I want to be in a beauty pageant,’” she tells me Sunday during the Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. “I was a chubby tomboy, so to come here and be part of this and see how it all works, and see how much effort that these girls put into themselves – it’s so much fun.”

For Kelly, 26, the experience has been a pleasant surprise.
“I expected to get here, and it was going to be all gossip and everyone fighting and everyone being bitchy with each other, but it’s been amazing. It’s like girls’ summer camp with really cool girls.”
She is a sponge when it comes to beauty tips.
“Oddly enough, I was having a meeting with the lady who teaches them how to catwalk, so she can teach me how to pose properly on the red carpet. I still haven’t got that down. I don’t know how to do it! She’s going to show me further later on.”
Being part of the Miss USA Pageant experience has been incredible. I was a preliminary judge.
