Kelsey Grammer’s family life has been filled with more tragedy than most. When he was just 14, the actor was forced to mourn the brutal murder of his father. While juggling through the pain, he became a sort of father-figure to his little sister, Karen Grammer. But years later, sick serial killer Freddie Lee Glenn took her from him as well.
REELZ’s new docuseries, Geraldo Rivera’s Murder In the Family: Kelsey Grammer, looks back at Karen’s horrific killing, and how Kelsey’s life changed after two criminals robbed him of his loved ones.
“It has been days since they last spoke, and as Karen’s sworn protector, Kelsey anxiously awaits her to make contact,” Geraldo Rivera narrates in the clip teaser.
“Karen was more than his little sister, he had been like a father to her. So when he got the phone call that she was missing, he didn’t want to believe it at first,” explains Georgi Bragg, a WAFF-TV reporter.
Karen was one of a three victims who were raped and killed by Freddie Lee Glenn in 1975.
“The following morning her roommate reports her disappearance to Colorado Springs police and detective Smith is quick to respond,” adds Geraldo Rivera.
“Detective Smith arrives at the apartment within an hour. We he got to the apartment he used that key, he had what he needed, now he knew that Jane Doe was Pamela’s roommate, Karen Grammer,” says Myra Jolivet, a former KHOU-TV reporter.
Geraldo Rivera’s Murder In the Family: Kelsey Grammer airs Saturday, November 10 at 9 ET / PT on REELZ.
