Before she was cast as vixen Samantha Jones on Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall was a very busy actress. Now that SATC has come and gone, she's getting back to her roots by mixing it up with film, television and theater credits, and a role that required her to pack on the pounds! For her new  indie film, Meet Monica Velour, the sultry actress says she's "letting it all hang out." And by that we mean, gaining twenty pounds in just six weeks!

In order to beef up for her role as a has-been porn star, Kim says (via Huffington Post), "It was actually kind of a relief. It was like getting rid of the Barbie doll and throwing it out and starting again." Considering this was her first break from dieting in 25 years, she fondly recalls, "We were shooting in Detroit, and there's a lot of great bars in Detroit. Alas, all good things must come to an end, including the dieting hiatus which Kim says was "wonderful." After shooting wrapped she quickly befriended the treadmill and eliminated dairy, breads, sweets and most meets in order to get ready for her next role as an assistant to a former British prime minster!

It sounds like the veteran actress with 35 years of playing various characters is stepping out of the sultry Samanatha role we're so used to seeing her play. "I loved working on Sex and the City. It's a dream job and a great character to play," she notes. "But before Sex and the City I was a working actress, and hopefully I'll be until I can't talk or move."
