Kim Kardashian & Family Get Barbara Walters Booed on 'The View'

It's not often that a media icon such as Barbara Walters is booed on national television, but that's exaclty what happened on Friday.
The journalist sat down with the ladies of The View to discuss her 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011. Since the list was announced earlier this week, people have been in an uproar over the inclusion of the Kardashian family, and it seems as though the studio audience was no different.

While most of her selections were met with applause, Barbara's announcement that Kim Kardashian and her family made the cut resulted in audible boos from the audience — not to mention distress from the hostesses themselves!
Barbara tried to continue with the rest of the honorees, but was interrupted by the women who had many questions for the ABC legend.
Joy Behar quipped, "Do I have to get an annulment from Steve to get on this freakin' list?"

Barbara tried to defend herself by explaining the selection process. "We try to take people who have done something in the past year that has made them very important, we do not take criminals...we try to take positive people."

As Barbara finished, Whoopi Goldberg turned to the audience giving an exaggerated eye roll, apparently not swayed by the former anchor's reasoning.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, not typically the voice of reason on the show, pointed out one very important detail to Barbara.
"Well, the Kardashians might be criminals if they're guilty of fraud," the hostess declared, in reference to the rumors that Kim's marriage to Kris Humphries might have been for publicity and money.
What do you think? Do you think the Kardashians are fascinating enough to make the countdown? And even if they aren't, did Barbara deserve to get booed?
