Kirk Cameron is devastated by the tragic loss of his former Growing Pains co-star Andrew Koenig. “It is with great sorrow to hear about the final outcome of the search for my old friend Andrew,” Kirk told Access Hollywood in a statement today.

“I hope everyone will be sensitive to the Koenigs and give the family some private time to reflect and to grieve the loss of their beloved son," he continued to Access. "At a time like this, we all are reminded of the briefness of life and the importance of being ready for our eternal destination. My prayers will continue to be with Andrew’s family.”

Andrew's body was discovered yesterday by family and friends in Vancouver's Stanley Park.

His father addressed the media yesterday in Canada, telling reporters his son took his own life.

“What you can learn from this… is that there are people out there who really, really care,” he said at the time.

Police would not discuss the cause of death in much detail, but did say foul play was not involved.

The Vancouver coroner's investigation is underway.

Andrew played Richard “Boner” Stabone, Mike Seaver's best friend on the hit ‘80s sitcom.

“Mike and Boner could always work things out when they put their minds to it. I’m praying for you, pal. Hope to hear from you soon,” Kirk said when he first heard of his old friend's disappearance.
