Kristen Stewart has a busy year ahead of her. She's not only signed to the next two films in the Twilight series, New Moon and Eclipse, but she's also managed to squeeze a few other roles into her schedule as well.
The actress stars as a teen afflicted with a terminal disease in The Cake Eaters, directed by Mary Stuart Masterson. She's also gearing up to play the iconic singer/songwriter Joan Jett in the film The Runaways. Kristen tells Parade.com the role was an opportunity of a lifetime.
"She's so cool, one of the nicest, most soulful women I've ever met. And so many people love and admire her," Stewart says. "It's an immense responsibility to play a real person, one of the most intimidating things that I've ever had to confront. Her story is an incredibly triumphant, feminist story."
Kristen will shoot the project while production is shut down for eight weeks in between New Moon and Eclipse. In the meantime, she's pulling double duty prepping for the part.

"Right now I'm just listening to Joan's music all the time," she says. "I spent New Year's with her. The main thing that Joan talked about was just how much she cared about the days when she was a teenager and started singing with The Runaways. She told me that the band was what started her entire life."
Kristen says she hopes to actually perform some of Joan's hits, telling Parade, "I don't want to speak out of place. I really hope to be able to actually perform the music, but I just don't know yet. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you guys soon."
