Lady Gaga Makes $1 Million Donation to Hurricane Sandy Victims

Before Lady Gaga became mother monster, she grew up in NYC and once a New York girl, always a New York girl.

Lady Gaga announced on her website she's donating $1 million to New York and the American Red Cross as a result of Hurricane Sandy. She wrote, "If it wasn't for NYC: the Lower East Side, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today."

The "Born This Way" singer added, "New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours."

She's not the only celeb to get into the spirit of giving. According to ABC, Barbara Walters donated $250,000 and George Stephanopolous gave $50,000 to the Red Cross as well.
