Lady Gaga is one of the many stars grieving over the tragic, untimely death of Amy Winehouse at the age of 27.

The "Born This Way" singer added that Amy's bold and unique ways — from her style to her soulful tone — helped pave the way for people like her in the industry.

“I always felt kind of like an outsider — in pop music, and just from high school and I remember Lady Starlight looked over at me and said, ‘If she can do it, you can do it,’” she shared. “So I always felt like Amy had opened a door for girls like me who didn’t fit that exact real pop mold..."

“She was really special,” Gaga concluded. “And she’s gonna be greatly missed.”

Gaga also said that while she never met Amy, she is still struggling with her loss.

Nominated for six Grammys in 2008, Amy won much acclaim taking home five awards, including “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for her smash hit “Rehab.”

Amy was found dead in her bed on Saturday morning. Her  cause of death has vet to be determined and initial autopsy results were deemed inconclusive. Police revealed that nothing suspicious was found in Amy’s London home that would suggest a drug or alcohol overdose.

She was cremated yesterday and her ashes are reported to be scattered with those of her grandmother, who passed away from cancer five years ago.
