LeAnn Rimes: "My Husband is Obsessed with Blake Lively!"
Sept. 4 2008, Published 8:35 a.m. ET
No one is perfect, and LeAnn Rimes has gone on the record to admit as much – the sweet songstress recently admitted that she has psoriasis. OK! sat down with LeAnn on Wednesday at the kick off for the "Stop Hiding. Start Living." campaign for the National Psoriasis Foundation to talk about her decision to become active against the disease, her hopes for a family, and her love of Gossip Girl.
OK!: Why was speaking out about psoriasis important for you?
LeAnn: I think it was important to put a face with the disease. I know so many people who have it. My dermatologist in L.A. would always tell me there are so many celebrities who have it that just won't talk about it.
I think obviously people want celebrities to be perfection: great skin, great hair. People always compliment me on my skin, and I go, "God, if you only knew what I've been hiding all these years!" It just feels liberating to talk about it and I know I'm helping a lot of people by lending my voice to the cause.
OK!: What has the reaction been like from people with psoriasis?
LeAnn: It's been amazing. Every time I talk about it, either the interviewer or somebody in their family has it. It kind of trickles down the line and everyone I meet knows someone who has it. People with psoriasis feel isolated and just talking about it myself, that isolation I felt fades away a little bit because I realize how many people deal with this disease.
OK!: We hear you want to have a baby soon, are you avoiding any foods or trying any wacky superstitions?
LeAnn: No, nothing too drastic yet. Just good old fashion trying!
OK!: Have you thought about baby names?
LeAnn: I definitely have a list and I'm trying not to make them too strange. We're prepared on the name front, but I know it will probably change a zillion times.
OK!: How many kids do you want to have?
LeAnn: We'll start with one. I was an only child so I'm totally okay with one. And plus, with the career and everything, for a while I think one would be a lot easier to travel with.
OK!: What are you most excited to do with the baby?
LeAnn: Becoming a kid again myself would be a lot of fun, and Dean's so good with kids. My mom always said, "You think you're in love with someone but you don't really realize how deep it can be until you have kids." It's going to be interesting to have that experience with him. I'm totally terrified of childbirth! I'm excited to see how I'll deal with that.
OK!: How do you and Dean keep the love alive?
LeAnn: He travels with me most of the time. We're very fortunate that we've grown together. We have a lot of people in our lives and that are always around, so we enjoy getting away every couple of months just the two of us for a weekend or going out to a nice dinner. And we just moved into a new house we built in Nashville. We're unpacking boxes right now so we feel a little unsettled but we're excited.

OK!: Has moving to Nashville helped keep you away from the Hollywood drama?
LeAnn: I definitely think getting out of L.A. was good, even though I love it. I'm a California girl at heart because I moved there when I was 15. I love what I do but I don't totally get involved in the business as far as going out to parties and mingling. I love being at home and having real friends with real connections. There is nothing worse than going to a party and talking small talk with people and knowing it doesn't really matter. My precious little free time that I have I want spent with people that I love.
OK!: What advice would you give to young singers coming up?
LeAnn: Just hold on to yourself. Remember who you were before it happened. I think the hard thing for a lot of people is they get mixed up in who they are as a celebrity and they forget who they are as a real human being. To draw that fine line between celebrity and real life is hard to do but I think it's so important. It's nice to not be LeAnn Rimes all the time. I want to just be LeAnn and have people not care about what I'm doing in my business.
OK!: You've acted in the past, any plans for movies or TV?
LeAnn: I've been looking. I definitely want to do more film and every video I do I think I do more and more acting in them, which I think is kind of setting the stage to do more and more film. I've gotten the bug from that, so we‚re definitely looking and I‚d love to do TV. I would love to be on Gossip Girl!
OK!: What do you love about that show?
LeAnn: My husband is obsessed with Blake Lively, so it's me and Blake Lively. She's such a doll. I think she's such a cute little girl and the actors are great and the story lines are really good. It became our obsession because we got hooked at the very end of the season, and then we went back and bought the whole season and watched it.
LeAnn: What's some surprising music on your playlist?
My husband is from Detroit and is a big rap fan so I'm way up on the Biggie and Eazy-E and crazy rappers.
