Letters from London: The Weekend in the Big City!

Can't jump across the pond as much as you'd like but love hearing all the latest celebrity and society gossip? London-based journalist Natalie Livingstone and fashion stylist Rachel Ingram give you the low-down on the celebrity and style scene in the world's hottest city!
On Saturday night we popped out to the uber-cool London hangout Nobu Berkley for some quiet drinks and edamame and bumped into Katy Perry, resplendent in her rubber Union Jack/Stars’n’Stripes dress. La Perry informed us that she had been glued to the England-US soccer game and had gone out with friends to celebrate leaving her fiancée Russell Brand to brood at home over the outcome. “Everybody wins, I like that,” she said over the result, which was a draw at 1-1.

She begged us to join her for a spot of boogying at super-cool, tropicana-themed night club MAHKIKI, where we spotted the ENTIRE Glee cast, minus Rachel and Finn, who were in town to appear on popular talk show Jonathan Ross. Dancing the night away to classic 80s tunes in the VIP section at a table hosted by Disney, they held an impromptu rendition of "Aint No Mountain High Enough," which was met by rapturous applause by onlookers.
Kevin McHale, who plays wheelchair-bound Artie, looked achingly stylish in a Burberry trench coat with his hair gelled up in a Mohawk and was king of the night. Tongues started wagging when he started making out with fellow cast member and on-screen love interest Jenna Ushkowitz. Clearly a case of life imitating art. Chris Colfer, who has immortalized gay groover Kurt, rocked on wearing a sporty leather jacket and on-trend plaid shirt.

Next stop, West London celebrity haunt Movida, where the Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am had stationed himself at a table directly beneath the DJ booth, which was laden with at least 20 magnums of Cristal. Wearing his black and white knitted beanie hat and breaking the dress code rule of no sneakers, he kept his shades on all night, opting to chat to his property mogul buddies rather than dance. The resident DJ honored the esteemed guest by playing his songs throughout the night, assisted by Will himself who repeatedly leaned over the booth to scratch out some tunes on the decks.

An early start on Sunday as we headed down to the Isle of Wight music Festival to join a host of British A-listers including supermodel Kate Moss and TV presenter Alexa Chung. Festival season is officially underway, as we sat with model Erin O'Connor watching music legends Jay-Z and Paul McCartney rocking out on stage.
Alexa’s black skinny pants, leather boots and obligatory Barbour jacket was a quintessentially British look perfect for the unpredictable weather. Meanwhile, Kate Moss, who practically wrote the rule book on festival style, looked laconically chic in an embroidered jacket and cognac-coloured ankle boots. British It girl and daughter of Bob, Pixie Geldof looked effortlessly cool in a slouchy black sweater and classic Ray Bans.
