Lindsay Lohan will not be charged with leaving the scene of an accident which occurred on March 14. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office says that evidence is insufficient. The office also has doubts regarding the credibility of Lindsay's accuser, Thaer Kamal, who claimed that the actress hit him with her car.

"There is no direct evidence to show Lindsay Lohan or anyone else struck victim Kamal," Deputy District Attorney John Gilligan said in a statement. "Victim Kamal's changed story and lack of cooperation with law enforcement make him a non-credible witness."

Kamal is the owner of the Hookah Lounge in Hollywood. Paperwork shows that he called the police but refused medical treatment.

This must be a relief for Lindsay, who is attempting a big career comeback; she is starring as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's Liz & Dick, and recently taped a guest appearance on Glee. She is currently on informal probation for allegedly stealing a necklace last year; if Kamal's claims had been pursued, it would have been a significant set back for Lilo since the incident occurred while she was still on formal probation.
