'The Lion King' Wins Top Spot at Box Office With $29.3 Million

Disney's re-release of 1994 movie The Lion King in theaters in 3D was a big success at the box office. Those lions really roared new life into the family-friendly flick!

The Lion King claimed the number one spot at the box office over the weekend.
According to MTV News, the Disney classic earned $29.3 million off the re-release of the 17-year-old film.
In an OK! readers poll, The Lion King won as the movie to see this past weekend with 34 percent of the votes.

The Lion King's box office success pushed the newly released Ryan Gosling movie, Drive, into third and last week's number one film, Contagion, into second.
Emma Stone's The Help was still going strong in fourth place, but unfortunately Kate Bosworth's Straw Dogs came in fifth place with $5 million and Sarah Jessica Parker's I Don't Know How She Does It came in below with $4.5 million.
