Lipstick Jungle: Wendy's new gig

Oct. 22 2008, Published 6:00 a.m. ET
When we last saw Lipstick Jungle’s movie executive Wendy Healy, she had just been unceremoniously axed from her cushy gig as president of Parador Pictures.
While some may be more than happy to sit around and cash those unemployment checks, Wendy is going to have a pretty hard time with her pink slip status, according to her portrayer, Brooke Shields.
“She’s been the one that’s had the career,” she tells me, “so it’s unsettling, really.”
Especially for her teen daughter, Maddie.
Wendy, who’s now got too much time on her hands, tries on the role of stay-at-home mom. No surprise she pretty much mucks up the gig.
Brooke understands why her character is having a hard time making the transition.
“I've never not worked, to take that away from me would be cutting out a huge part of my life,” she says.
“It’s like Wendy says, that she’s much better when I'm working. A better wife and mother,” Brooke explains. “When she feeds that part of her, it's her version of exercise.”
