Logan Lerman fuels speculation that he may be the next Spider-Man during his premiere for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief held Thursday at NYC’s AMC Loews Lincoln Square.
The 18-year-old actor got his start in 2000 with The Patriot and is on the shortlist of actors being considered for the role originated by Tobey Maguire in 2002.
Still, the Justin Bieber look-a-like winces when asked if he’s ready to tackle the workout the role would require.
“It’s a dream for any actor to possibly be a part of that movie and a part of that series and play that role,” he tells OK!. “I hope to be considered.”
One treat he would have trouble giving up?
“In-N-Out’s Double-Double with cheese,” he says. “It’s the most delicious thing you could possibly eat.”
For Logan, playing Spider-Man would be the realization of a childhood fantasy.
He adds, “I’m a huge fan. Huge fan. He’s got to be my favorite character.”
He bristles when asked what it feels like to compete with Zac Efron for the role, and the Beverly Hills native remains showbiz-savvy when asked about his celebrity crush. Perhaps it is a caution he’s honed while compiling his decade-long résumé, which includes Gamer, 3:10 to Yuma, My One and Only, Jack & Bobby, What Women Want and Riding in Çars with Boys.
“Filmmakers are my celebrity crush,” he says. “People like David Fincher and them, because they inspire me to be in this business. I love the artists — the people who really bring it all together like Chris Columbus and people like them. They’re my crushes.”

It’s no surprise to Percy Jackson director Chris Columbus why Logan has suddenly become the next big thing.
“Logan has this intense sort of soul, this deepness about him, that is unlike most 18-year-olds that I know, and most 18-year-old actors,” he tells OK!. “He has an instinctual ability that I’ve never seen in someone that young. I think he will grow into becoming someone very, very big in the movie industry. I think he’s going to be a big star, and I think he’s going to be one of the great actors. I think he’s going to do a lot of diverse things.”
Logan gets co-star Alexandra Daddario’s vote when it comes to playing the superhero.
“I think he’d make a great Spider-Man,” she tells OK!. “I think he has that geeky charm that I think Spider-Man has and he’s also a phenomenal actor. That would be fantastic.”
For now, Logan is excited about his adventure/fantasy movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which also stars Pierce Brosnan and Uma Thurman.
What Greek god would he most like to be and why?
“I’d love to be Poseidon,” he says. “He controls the water and I love the sea. And the horses, too, I love horses.”
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is in theaters February 12.
