When Ludacris hosts the grand opening of WET Sundays at The Pool located inside Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, he makes sure his guests are having a great time by personally serving them Conjure Cognac from his own VIP Cabana. As he fills their glasses with his signature drink, he laps up the attention with nods and smiles, and heads over to join Funk Master Flex on the turntables.
Although the 32-year-old rapper/actor is touring with 50 Cent, questions about his shocking weight loss are off-limits and his concert is the only topic he’s willing to cover. But there was a time recently when he was more accessible when he was promoting his forthcoming album Ludaversal.
“My celebrity crush is Halle Berry,” the star, whose real name is Chris Bridges tells me. “She exudes sophistication and beauty.”
Lucky for Luda, the Oscar winner is available, and her 2-year-old daughter Nahla might make a great playmate for his 8-year-old daughter Karma.
“She came to see me on tour, and it wasn’t for so long because she’s still in school, and when she had to leave, she started crying on me, and saying she was going to miss me, and it touched me,” he tells me.

He adds, “She’s into reading, she’s into wanting to start her own clothing business.”
Being a dad while being a superstar is a juggling act for Ludacris, who must manage his relationship with Karma’s mom at the same time.
“I make it happen,” he says. “In terms of my daughter, I make time. In terms of my schedule, I have to make time one way or another, whether she comes on the road with me, or if I go home and spend time with her.”
When Karma is not on the road with her dad, they spend time together in his five homes in cities including Jersey City, N.J., Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta.
What’s his favorite feature in his homes?
“Probably my movie theater,” he admits. “I love watching movies, man, and what better way than to have your own personal screen. You can play video games on it, and watch movies.”
As he watches Karma grow up, Ludacris sees himself.
“I’m surprised by how much my daughter is like me in terms of having a memorable personality,” he says with a smile. “She’s outgoing.”
One way she takes after her dad is in wanting to try different careers like her rapping/acting/entrepreneur father.
“She wants to be an entertainer, an actress, a businesswoman, a clothing designer, and all those things,” he admits.
