The fact that Macaulay Culkin skipped his monthly DJ gig at a New York City nightclub on Feb. 9 wouldn't normally raise many eyebrows. However, the previous day, the Home Alone star had been photographed in NYC looking alarmingly thin, pale and scruffy — and his no-show the next night only fueled speculation that something was terribly wrong with the onetime acting prodigy.
"He was barely recognizable," an eyewitness tells Star of Macaulay's appearance on Feb. 8. "He had a scraggly beard and looked painfully thin around his face. He was nice enough to pose for a photo at one point with a fan, but you could tell he really wasn't that keen about having his picture taken. I don't blame him, because he looked kind of shocking."
