Looking stunning in a fire engine red top and pencil black skirt and necklace with the diamond initials, W.E., as Madonna promoted her new movie of the same name at TIFF, she burst into song during the press conference! Not one of her tunes, mind you, but a little ditty nonetheless and soon thereafter an overzealous fan disguised as a TIFF volunteer asked for her autograph. Most of all, since her film is released this December in the midst of Oscars season, she says her "legs and fingers are crossed."

First things first: Fascinated with the story of King Edward the VIII's decision to abdicate the throne for the woman that he loved, the Material Girl wanted to try to investigate the reasons and understand his decision to make "such a big sacrifice." In the end, Madonna noted that "truth is subjective."

By wearing the hat of director, not only did she get to call the shots but also help finish dressing the actors and actresses for their scenes! She explained, “One of my rituals, one of the most important rituals for me was to help finish dressing the actors or the actresses. I loved putting the finishing touches on them and feeling a connection with them before we began the day of shooting." She added, "So, putting on their necklaces and their bracelets and fine-tuning their hair and clothes and finding an excuse to touch them, basically, was my ritual.”

She also told reporters that yes, there were sing alongs on set. Not for any particular reason other than to pass time. She dished, "When it’s pouring down rain and you were shooting outside and you were stuck inside some grey dirty shack and waiting for the sun to come out. What can you do but make up a song?” After the moderator asked her for an example, she sung, “We’re making a movie, isn’t it groovy, welcome to my house.”

After Madonna fielded question after question and continuously pointed out to reporters when they exceeded the one question rule by quipping, "That was two questions," one overzealous fan posed as a TIFF volunteer to get her autograph!
As reported by CBC News, it could be considered a security breach because after the presser "volunteer" was nowhere to be found. Although the so-called volunteer wearing the orange TIFF volunteer t-shirt handed a record album cover to a security guard who then handed it to Madonna for her autograph, the superstar signed it with a smile and promptly returned it to the guard.
W.E. opens in theaters nationwide on December 9.
