Mariah Carey Dishes on Meeting Nick Cannon and Motherhood

Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon seem like they've been happy together forever -- but as the singer/actress revealed on Barbara Walters' Sirius XM Radio show this morning, Nick had to wait a few years to nab his dream girl.
"He likes to say that he spoke it into existence," Mariah revealed to Barbara and co-host Bill Geddie on Here's Barbara. "He told everybody who he thought might know me, ‘Tell your girl Mariah that I want to talk to her.’ All this stuff. I didn’t know him… but I didn’t know what to believe."
The two finally met at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, where Mariah received an award for "We Belong Together," and Nick insisted on being the one to give it to her.
"He told me that he said to the people that were doing the show, that he wouldn’t do it, unless he could present my award to me," she explains. "I said, 'Thank you for all the nice things that you’ve been saying about me.' And he said ‘I meant everything — give me a chance.’ And then I didn’t see him again for two years."
The two-year delay was due simply to timing, Mariah explains, as her bodyguards whisked her away, and Nick didn't have her number. Finally, the couple were reunited when Mariah was planning a video.
"I always remembered the moment," dishes Mariah. "We were doing a video and there was going to be a love interest in it. And we were thinking of all different actors and people — we wanted it to look authentic. And I said, 'Oh, what about Nick Cannon?’ "

The rest is history, as the two were married in 2008 after a whirlwind romance.
So are kids the next step for this happy couple?
"I would like to do that," confesses Mariah of having children. "My thing about right now is that I have to put this album out and the movie, Precious."
So why not now, asks co-host Geddie, reminding Mariah, "You know what they say, there's no good time."
"There is a little bit of a better time than when you’re promoting a move, album and a fragrance," joked Mariah.
Guess we'll have to wait until she gets some free time for little baby Mariah and Nicks!
