Martha Stewart Adjusts to Grandmotherhood

Since Martha Stewart’s daughter Alexis welcomed daughter Jude seven weeks ago, the domestic doyenne is relishing her new role as grandma.
“I just finished feeding her her 6:00 bottle,” she says with a laugh at the Time 100 Gala held this week in NYC. “She’s growing … growing and sleeping.”
What’s the best part?
“No responsibility,” she tells me. “Just having fun.”
For Alexis, 45, becoming a mom was a journey fraught with issues until her little girl was born via surrogate in March.

“She loves it,” Martha says of Alexis’ response to motherhood.
But she doesn’t ask the helpful homemaker, 69, for advice.
“She knows everything.”
Grandmotherhood certainly agrees with Martha, and even her fans are getting involved by sending thoughtful gifts for the little one.
“Baby Jude got my Frenchie bulldogs, Francesca and Sharky, made out of felted wool. Very exciting!”
Despite her joy at being a grandma, Martha maintains a full social calendar. The following evening, she attends the Vanity Fair Tribeca Film Festival party.
A grandma’s gotta do what a grandma’s gotta do!
