Although her own retirement is the last thing on Mary J. Blige’s mind when she picks up two trophies for her My Life perfume at the Fragrance Foundation's FiFi Awards held Wednesday in NYC, her thoughts are with her Precious collaborator Oprah Winfrey, who ended her talk show after 25 years.
“Oh my God, I love her,” Mary, 40, tells me backstage. “She left us with so many jewels on this last show today.”

Coming up next for Mary are roles playing jazz icon Nina Simone, and starring alongside Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages.
“I’m overexcited!” she exclaims of working with Tom. “He’s amazing.”
For now, she just needs to decide where to put her new prizes.
“I’m going to create a whole new cabinet for the fragrance awards,” she says. “Everything else is music, so we’re going to have to get a cabinet for entrepreneurship.”
Still, it’s not all work.
During an acceptance speech, she shouts out to hubby Kendu Isaacs, whom she wed in 2003.
“To my husband Kendu - he puts up with all my craziness,” she says. “I love you.”
