Megyn Kelly’s interview with right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has made news, but not the kind she was hoping for. Amid outrage from those appalled that NBC would even consider giving airtime to the radio host — who maintains that the Sandy Hook school massacre was a hoax and 9/11 was a U.S. government plot — and a temporary boycott by advertiser J.P. Morgan Chase, sources say the network is considering scaling back Megyn’s airtime on Today to tamp down on the uproar. “This has been a huge public relations problem for them,” says an insider of NBC’s top brass. “They’re paying her tens of millions of dollars, and right out of the gate she’s causing controversy.”
