Mel Gibson's Ex Wife Stands Up For Him in Court

Besides the possibly tampered with tapes, Mel Gibson has another defense in his corner for his child custody hearing — his soon-to-be ex-wife Robyn Gibson. According to TMZ, Robyn has written a sworn declaration defending Mel.

Robyn states in the written latter that Mel has never physically abused her or any of their children in the 28 years they were married, TMZ reports.

"Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage," Robyn writes in the declaration, that was filed in court this morning, according to TMZ.

And Robyn seems to be close to court if needed — she was spotted running errands in Malibu yesterday.

Robyn's one-page declaration will be submitted to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department next week, when Mel's lawyers present their evidence to deputies.

She also acknowledges Mel as a great parent: "Mel was a wonderful and loving father."

Robyn is well-respected in Hollywood, which could be very helpful for Mel's defense.
