A who's who of Hollywood's A-list arrived last night in NYC to honor living legend Meryl Streep at the 35th Annual Film Society of Lincoln Center Gala Tribute. But Meryl was anything but conceited about the honor. She tells OK!, " I don't think there is any such thing as the greatest American actress. There are so many great people working now it's not fair to say that!"
Obviously everyone OK! talked to had only the best to say about Meryl. But, the Oscar winner assures us that there are a few people who would say a couple of negative things to say. "That's why I keep my family out of the press. They can tell you different!"
Of all the characters the actress has played, she must have one favorite. "I don't have one!," she assured us.
Although Meryl's upcoming roles include Julia Child in Julie and Julia and the movie version of Mamma Mia, we wondered if she felt the challenge to be a fashion victim thank to The Devil Wears Prada. "I feel the pressure to be a good human being. They know they're not going to get that from me!"
