Michael J. Fox just can't stay away from television.

The erstwhile Alex P. Keaton is slated to guest star in a four-episode arc on the upcoming season of Rescue Me, FX announced.

Michael will play the boyfriend of Denis Leary's ex-wife on the firehouse drama, John Landgraf, President of FX, says.

"He's a very funny, original character," John said, adding that the character will be "confined to a wheelchair."

The Family Ties star won the part courtesy Denis, whom he is friends with, John says.

Since leaving Spin City in 2001 after a five-year run, Michael, 47, has been concentrating on raising awareness for Parkinson's Disease, but has also carved out time to make some very special guest appearances on such shows as Scrubs and Boston Legal, the latter of which won him an Emmy nomination.
