Michael Showers, 'Treme' Actor, Found Dead in Mississippi River

Michael Showers, the actor who played a recurring role on Treme as a police captain, was found dead floating in the Mississippi River. He was 45.

Although an autopsy will be performed to figure out the cause of the mysterious death, according to E! News, the chief investigator for the Orleans Parish coroner's office estimated that his body was floating in the river for approximately two days.

Michael's body was discovered in the water near the French Quarter of New Orleans by a steamboat captain. About thirty minutes later, the police recovered the body.

Although his role of Captain Guidry in the drama focusing on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he's also had a variety of other roles such as The Vampire Diaries, The Tree of Life and Traffic.
