Michelle Obama: Style Icon

Clutching the hand of her husband and President-Elect, Barack Obama on 60 Minutes on Nov. 16, Michelle Obama was a stunning sight in a dark-purple skirt and top from Chicago-based designer Maria Pinto.
"Michelle's style can best be described as timeless and unpretentious," Pinto, who custom-fitted the pieces for Michelle, tells OK!.
"It was so sophisticated," agrees Tim Gunn's Guide to Style co-host, Greta Monahan. "By doing two pieces, she made sure the styling was right in the bottom and the top so it gave a true proportional fit."
Michelle added sparkle with a multi-strand, black and white pearl necklace. "She masters playful elegance by adding something unexpected, like a pair of earrings or a jaw-dropping necklace," says Mandi Norwood, author of the upcoming book Michelle Obama, Style Guide. "She has a great eye for accessories."
