Mike Starr, Alice in Chains Bassist, Dies at 44

Mike Starr, the original bassist for Alice in Chains, has died. The police found him in his home in Salt Lake City but were unable to confirm the cause of death. He was 44.

In addition to being a rocker, Mike appeared on TV in the third season of Celebrity Rehab. Just last month he was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance. Cops said he had six Xanax pills and six Opana (painkiller) pills at the time of the arrest.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the band issued this statement: “Members of Alice in Chains are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy – and the privacy of the Starr family – during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with the Starr family.”
