This past winter, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino quietly enterted a rehab facility in Utah. He checked out early last month, leaving everyone to wonder what exactly the reality star was battling.

The Situation opened up to MTV News today about his addiction to painkillers and blamed the fast-paced celebrity lifestyle for his dependence on the substance. He said he began popping pills hoping the substance would give him "more energy" and claims to never have had a drinking or illicit drug problem. After a few months clean, he's slowly regaining the old Situation.
"Right now, I'm at a good place. But it took a little bit to get there," he said. "In the beginning? A lot of rainy days, so to speak. A lot of rainy days. I'm not gonna lie, it feels like you're not gonna recover. It feels like an impossible deed ... but day by day, it gets better."
What's one of his biggest regrets? The way he treated Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
"I would never want to hurt that girl's feelings. That girl is very special to me," he said. "If I could turn back the clock, even though I always say that I have no regrets ... definitely hurting her feelings ... and our friendship."

Meanwhile, he's working on managing all the negative emotions that created his dependency. Indeed, it's his emotions, he explained, that came back in full force immediately after quitting.
"Your mind, your health, your body — it's not coming back as quick as your emotions," he said. "Your emotions hit you like a ton of bricks. The substance blocks out feelings."
The sixth season of Jersey Shore is set to start filming this summer, with pregnant Snooki living in a separate house... which is probably a good idea.
