NEWS'Mildred Pierce' Star Evan Rachel Wood Talks Nerves Over Nude Scenes

Evan Rachel Wood is certainly a brave young actress, taking on roles opposite Hollywood's heavy hitters including Mickey Rourke, Kate Winslet and George Clooney (who she is currently filming The Ides of March with). But when it came to taking her clothes off for the upcoming HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce, Evan's nerves set in. Luckily, her Oscar-winning co-star Kate, who is no stranger to nudity on the big screen, coached her through!
Evan plays Veda, Kate's character's daughter, in the HBO adaptation of James L. Cain's 1941 novel, and she certainly listened to the advice of her on-screen mom when it came to stripping her clothes off for the camera.
"I was a lot more nervous than I thought I was going to be," Evan told xfinityTV.com, via Huffington Post. "I looked at Kate and she was like, 'You've got to do it. Trust me, it's so brave. Put a merkin on and you'll be fine.' "

What exactly is a merkin?
A merkin is a pubic wig that Evan, 26, needed to wear to appear naked as those in the 1930s, when bikini waxes were not around.
