According to TMZ sources, Miley's people were aware the bong video existed and tried to hide it.
A college student reportedly came into possession of the video and contacted Miley's reps just after Thanksgiving. In exchange for the video, money was reportedly discussed.

Instead of money, the student reportedly gave a man from Miley's camp, when he came to the student's college campus, his MacBook Pro containing the video in return for a new MacBook Pro.
And another student reportedly did the same thing with Miley's camp who also had a copy of the video.
But we guess the video must have already gone viral and their plan didn't work!
