After a , Miley Cyrus has finally gotten some good news – her name change is now official and she will henceforth be known legally as Miley Ray Cyrus.
Per TMZ, a judge approved the Cyrus family’s request to change the 15-year-old’s moniker from Destiny Hope to Miley Ray Thursday morning. The clan’s lawyer, who present for the sign-off, stated the Miley was "commonly known as Miley Cyrus since childhood, so from now on they just want to use that name."

“Miley” originated from “Smiley,” a term of endearment given to the Hannah Montana star when she was a baby for being, well, smiley. Needless to say, the “s” eventually was dropped off. Miley’s new middle name of “Ray” is a tribute to her father, Billy Ray.
The singer first revealed her intentions for a name swap in January, and in March, Billy Ray and mom Tish filed papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court as a formal request.
