Morgan Freeman has settled a lawsuit filed by a woman involved in a serious car accident with the Academy Award—winning actor last summer.
Demaris Meyer filed a federal lawsuit against Morgan in February claiming he had been drinking the night of the accident and he was negligent when the car ran off the highway near his Mississippi Delta home, reports the Associated Press.
Morgan, 72, was driving the 1997 Nissan Maxima — which belonged to Meyer — when the car flipped several times and landed upright in a ditch.

No charges were filed, but Meyer suffered multiple broken bones, cuts and bruises.
Details of the settlement were not disclosed and Meyer's lawyer, Gloria Allred said, "Our only statement regarding this settlement is that Ms. Meyer is pleased that the matter is resolved and the case is settled."
Memphis-based Meyer had sued for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, permanent disability and property damage.
