While Michael Jackson may be gone, his legacy and music continue to live on, both through his existing work and new, never before heard music — Michael’s single “This Is It” will be released on Oct. 12.

After the single’s release, Sony Music Entertainment’s Columbia/Epic Label Group has announced it will release the two-disc album This Is It featuring the music that inspired upcoming movie on MJ’s tour that never was, This Is It. The album will be available internationally on Oct. 26 and in North America Oct. 27, to coincide with the Oct. 28 release date of the movie.

“This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows – that Michael is one of God’s greatest gifts, “John McClain, co-producer of the album, and co-executor of MJ’s estate, said in a statement.

The first disc will include original album masters of some MJ hits, arranged in the same order as they appear in the film. It will also feature two versions of the single, “This Is It.” The second disc will feature previously unreleased versions of some of Michael’s classic songs.
