Nick Jonas might be the youngest third of teen phenomenon band the Jonas Brothers at 16, but it seems he’s already got his priorities straight when it comes to speaking out about juvenile diabetes.
Nick, who revealed he has Type 1 diabetes in 2007, first met with President Barack Obama at the White House for a photo with the commander-in-chief and children living with diabetes.
He then attended a meeting set up by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Children’s Congress on Capitol Hill in the office of Democrat Sen. Frank Lautenberg from New Jersey. Nick and his brothers Kevin and Joe created the Change for the Children Foundation, which donates money to charities benefiting children who are disadvantaged or ill.
He’s also scheduled to testify today before a Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee hearing on federal funding for diabetes research.
