Sticking to their Nickelodeon roots, Drake Bell and Daniella Monet are set to star in the network's first ever live-action TV movie Fairly Odd Parents: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!
On June 29, at Planet Hollywood in NYC, Drake and Daniella dished to OK! about their excitement of bringing this Nick classic to life! Starring alongside Jason Alexander and Cheryl Hines, Drake and Daniella are so excited to reach families of all ages with this super funny flick set to air on Nickelodeon July 9 at 8 P.M..
Drake plays the now 23-year-old Timmy Turner, who refuses to grow up because he does not want to lose his fairy god-parents. Who would want to lose two little fairies who can give you anything you wanted? That all changes when Daniella, who plays Tootie comes back into town.
Although Timmy remembers Tootie as an awkward, gawky little girl, she has now grown into a gorgeous young lady. Timmy is faced with the difficult decision of choosing between his god-parents and the lovely Tootie. Drake explained to OK! how awesome it was to see how accurately the characters were portrayed by his co-stars.
“The collaboration in this movie is hysterical. The kids are going to be confused because the acting is so dead on. We were doing a scene in a 5th grade classroom and the little kids thought we were actually from the cartoon," Drake said.
The loveable Danielle added: “Aesthetically, the movie is so close it is amazing! It looks so familiar, so real, it really will confuse people, and the kids are going to be like what?”
The two, especially Drake, have grown with the Nickelodeon network, obtaining loyal young fans, OK! asked if the stars would ever have the desire to do more challenging roles for adult audiences. “I like the happy medium of it all. I like be able to watch something with my family. I want to be able to have a broad scheme and keep it interesting. To keep it interesting for me and my fans. I like something that my brother can watch,” Daniella shared.
Daniella who is most famous for her role in the hit show Victorious as Trina Vega, still cannot believe the response the show has gotten. Victorious has become the leading empire of Nickelodeon, leaving young kids obsessed with the show.
“This has been huge, it is one of those opportunities that I am so grateful for, it has been a blast. My character keeps me on my toes, you know the cast is so much fun, and having all those different elements that our show offers, like musically and artistically, its funny, it is a dream come true. I was a total Nick kid growing up,” Daniella said.
Drake opened up to OK! about the pressures of being a young star in the eye of public scrutiny.
“I don’t really have the desire to be in the headlines, I am more about the work, especially with my schedule, I am touring all over the world constantly on the go, there isn’t room for that kind of behavior,” Drake said. Drake believes and lives by the old saying “ keep your eyes on the prize.” “If you do that, you will keep your head on your shoulders,” Drake said.

Daniella, who comes from a close family believes being a positive role model in this industry is the only way to go. “I am an older sister, I have a lot of cousins, I hold a certain role in my family. I strive to keep focus, I don’t have interest to appear in a wrong way, why take steps backwards when you can be going forward?” Danielle said.
So many people have grown up with this show, that it is a true monumental experience for the young actors. “It’s awesome. I loved the show growing up, I was a big fan of it, and still am. To be a part of it, I jumped at the opportunity,” Drake said.
“It is fun to talk to people around the same era because we really did grow up with this show and have the same feeling like wow this is coming to life?” Daniella said.
We totally had to get the scoop on Drake’s friendship with his longtime costar Josh Nichols, from Drake & Josh. "We would be on set together for hours, and you would think we would get sick of each other and go home and do our own thing, but we would walk out to our cars and be like hey what you doing? Nothing. What you doing? Nothing. Want to come over? Alright! So we were inseparable," Drake said.
As far as the cast of Victorious, it sounds like the bond on camera is even stronger off camera. Daniella who is the eldest of the cast explained that she is like the “mama bear” of the group! “We spend so much time together, and it is one of those opportunities that if we have the time off and got some energy left, we go laser tagging and grab sushi, or see a movie, its that sort of thing. Our cast has a lot of fun energy and always down to hang out,” Danielle said.
Be sure to catch the talented duo on July 9, as our favorite childhood cartoon comes to life!
