According to Deadline, Nicolas pulled out of the film late last week and then left for a vacation in the Bahamas!
It is unknown why Nicolas left the film. Perhaps he is burned out from promoting The Sorcerer's Apprentice?
Deadline insiders say the actor is not coming back and Millennium Films will continue forward, in hopes of keeping the same start date and assuming they can find a replacement.

However, in the last two weeks, Nicolas switched to wanting to play the leader of the kidnappers. The role of the husband was then offered to Liev Schreiber, who has yet to accept.
Now, the film also needs to find a replacement for Nicolas that is worthy of a $35 million budget.
