, Jon Voight and are all the rage at the National Treasure 2: Book Of Secrets premiere held at NYC’s Ziegfeld Theater.
While we’re waiting for the big stars, a dad comes up to me begging me to talk to his movie star son because his wife is a big OK! fan. A-ha. Turns out Billy Unger, 12, who plays Charles, noshed on cheeseburgers with Nicolas in the Universal cafeteria.
“He’s playful,” Billy tells me. “He’s good with kids. We were both on lunch break. We sat down and he was very talkative with my dad and I. We had a good conversation. He’s fun.”
Hey, there’s Jon Voight. “If you see her, tell me,” he says to a crew who asks about his famous daughter, Angelina Jolie. He makes a face when asked if he’ll be sending gifts to his grandchildren.
And here’s Nicolas Cage, who calls the sequel better than the original. What did he enjoy about making the action-adventure flick? “I liked being in the Catskills and in nature. The rocks are beautiful, the trees are beautiful, the water is beautiful.” He says he hopes the story will encourage kids to look into history.

We’re told Diane will be out after the screening begins, and voila, here she is with beau Joshua Jackson hanging out in the background. She calls the traffic she encountered “horrendous.” How did she buff up for the role? “I really should have, to be honest with you, because I came up after two weeks in that water feeling not so hot about myself. But I don’t really. I do a bit of Pilates when I can, but I don’t work out.”
She wishes she was as smart as her character, but says she can be feisty and obsessed.
Meanwhile, producer Jerry Bruckheimer praises Nicolas. “He’s the greatest. He really is. Unpredictable, fun, academy award winner, brilliant actor, we were lucky to have him. He’s very physical, very strong, just a great individual. Can’t say enough good things about him.”
Co-star Justin Bartha calls Nic “one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met.”
National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is in theaters Friday.
