NEWS"Nudity & Lovemaking" Scenes Cut From 'Romeo & Juliet' for Young Star Hailee Steinfeld

Now that 14-year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld has been cast for the upcoming adaptation of Romeo and Juliet some adjustments had to be made to the script — including cutting the nude scenes!

New reports have surfaced that the young True Grit star will not appear nude in Romeo and Juliet. While nudity was in the original script, director Carlo Carlei told Entertainment Weekly they have been cut.
“In the original adaptation written by the Oscar-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, there was a lovemaking scene that included nudity for the married Romeo and Juliet," he said. "This script was written with a 20-year-old actress in mind. As soon as Hailee Steinfeld was cast, all nudity and lovemaking have been excised from the script."

Carlo added, "It will be romantic and age-appropriate for a 14-year-old.”
