OK! Interview: Paris Hilton — "I Am One of the Sweetest People That I Know"
June 2 2011, Published 5:30 a.m. ET
Paris Hilton is 30, in love, and ready to put aside her party-girl reputation! Turning 30 was a reality check for Paris. “When you’re in your 20s, being 30 sounds so different,” she tells OK! in an exclusive interview in this week's issue — on sale everywhere now. “So I was nervous about it, but now I just feel like I am finally an adult.”
It’s this matured Paris that viewers will be spending time with on her new series, The World According to Paris, which airs Wednesdays on Oxygen at 10 p.m. ET.
Unlike her previous series, which put the Hilton heiress in wacky situations, the new show follows Paris’ real life.
“In the past shows, like Paris Hilton’s My New BFF and The Simple Life, I was playing a character,” she explains. “I feel like there are so many misconceptions about me, and I wanted to set the record straight. This time, people are going to see who I really am.”
Joining Paris on her new odyssey are friends, like Brooke Mueller, who is Charlie Sheen’s recent ex, Paris’ boyfriend, Las Vegas businessman Cy Waits, and a miniature pony named Lady Coco Chanel.
“A secret admirer sent me this miniature horse as a gift,” she explains. “It was the most random thing ever!”

Was there ever a time filming this show that you asked the cameras to go away?
No. They asked me what would be off-limits; I said, “Nothing. I want this to be completely real and to film every-thing.” The cameras were always on, from the moment that I woke up in the morning to when I went to bed.
If you could give your younger, wilder self advice, what would you say?
I would tell myself to not be so trusting of people. When I was younger, I was very naive and believed everything that people told me, and I trusted some really bad people.
What do you say to those who think you are mean?
I am one of the sweetest people that I know. I am always nice to everybody and I am never mean to anybody, so I don’t think I have ever even heard anybody say that! I am really shy, sweet, and I get uncomfortable if anybody is even mean to somebody else in front of me. I have always just been sweet, even if I am mad at someone.
