OK! Travel: Betsey Johnson Hits the Plaza!

New York’s famous Plaza Hotel reopened in 2008, but there was one essential ingredient missing until now: The Eloise Suite.
The mischievous children’s book heroine now has her own digs for hire on the hotel’s 18th floor, courtesy of New York fashion’s fairy godmother, Betsey Johnson.
The whimsical, ultra-feminine designer is as much of a New York icon as Eloise (celebrity fans include bride-to-be Katy Perry and her best pal Rihanna), so it’s no surprise to discover the suite is as much about Betsey as it is about Eloise. The heady mix of zebra print and neon pink will appeal to anyone who’s ever wished their own bedroom looked like one of Betsey’s super-girlie stores.

“I love that when you walk through the door, it’s like, ‘Pow!’ ” says Betsey, telling OK! she’d “die to do more interiors.” Inspired by 4-year-old granddaughter, Betsey has ensured the room is a little girls’ paradise with frilly dresses in the closet, candy on the counters and giant pink bed to jump on.
But, why waste it on small fry? It’s a great option for anyone planning a chic bachelorette party. Rihanna, take note.

A night in the suite starts at $995, and parties start at $500 for eight children (tea and cakes included). As Eloise would say, “Charge it please, thank you very much!”
