Oscars Shift Next Year for Olympics

Believe it or not, it's almost time for the Winter Olympics again – Vancouver will be hosting in 2010 – and no one wants to compete with the biggest sporting event of the year, including the Oscars.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences doesn't want to conflict with the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics, so the 82nd Annual Academy Awards is shifting to March 7, later than usual (this year's awards were on Feb. 22), Academy president Sid Ganis announced today.

The location will remain unchanged, as the ceremony is set for the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
