Patrick Dempsey: "I Love Romance"

In his upcoming film Made of Honor, Patrick Dempsey's proposal to Michelle Monaghan's character is unfortunately halted by a turn of events, and in real life, things didn't go much better. McDreamy, who claims to "love romance," admits his own proposal to his makeup artist wife, Jillian Fink, of eight years, was less-than-romantic and done "poorly."

"We just bought this house and we were in the middle of remodeling it and the kitchen was a mess," he tells Entertainment Tonight. "I kept giving her this line where I had to find the right ring, and I finally found it while she was gone and I couldn't wait, so I popped the question in the kitchen!"

These days, the 42-year-old actor is eager to return to work on Grey's Anatomy now that the writers' strike has been resolved. "I'm glad the strike is over. "I think we'll probably do four or five episodes and that will be the end of the season."

But it's not like Patrick, who has a 5-year-old daughter, Tallulah, and twins Darby and Sullivan, 1, didn't like the time off.

"It was nice to take a break and take a deep breath, spend time with my family," he says. "We had some date nights. I really needed that. It's been good for me, but I'm glad were going back to work."
