Patrick Dempsey Will Stay on 'Grey's Anatomy' Under One Condition — He Wants To Race!

Patrick Dempsey has been playing Dr. McDreamy for seven seasons, so what needs to be done in order to get him to come back for season No. 8?

"The biggest point for me in negotiations is getting time off to race, so if I don't miss races, I'll probably stay on Grey's Anatomy," Patrick told reporters Sunday at the Daytona International Speedway.
The actor, or shall we day race-car driver, was thinking about leaving the ABC show, but decided against it once the ratings started to pick up again.
"The show's doing really well," he said of the medical series, which also stars Ellen Pompeo and Eric Dane. "We were No. 1 on Thursday night, so it continues to get a lot of legs. ABC hasn't had a show this year that has kind of stepped up. We're certainly talking about the future."

And although Patrick admits that racing is his "real passion," he's thankful for Grey's Anatomy, and it sounds like he's willing to stick around if everyone else is!

"I enjoy the show. It keeps me in town so I can be around my family," he explained. "So we'll see. Hopefully we can work out a deal."
