They were affectionate in front of cameras, always out together as a family and even had plans made for Valentine's Day... so what went wrong? Wednesday morning reports came out that Ashlee Simpson has filed for divorce from Pete Wentz, but it was only days ago that Pete was Tweeting his love to Ashlee, the mother of their 2-year-old son, Bronx.

TMZ reported on Wednesday that Ashlee filed for divorce in L.A. Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable difference."

According to the documents, Ashlee is asking for joint legal custody and primary physical custody of Bronx.

But if you take a look at recent Tweets and interviews, you'd never have thought there was trouble in paradise!

Pete Tweeted on Feb. 7, "dont forget 2 notice-when i look into the lil dudes eyes & smile, the way he loves. i realize @ashsimpsonwentz is a good moma + so much more."

Actually, it does! Pete also recently raved about Ashlee's new haircut in a video with Radar Online!

"I think it's amazing. She can rock any haircut and any style," he said. "This one's my favorite, it's my current favorite."

And he even said he was keeping his Valentine's Day plans for Ashlee a secret.

"I guess I've got to make them not online," he joked. "This will be a surprise."

But according to TMZ sources, Pete's behavior was the reason Ashlee filed for divorce.

"It's really all about Pete's erratic behavior." the source said, also adding that no third party was involved and "she really wanted out."

Ashlee and Pete married on May 17, 2008.
