Rachael Ray's Silent Christmas
Nov. 26 2008, Published 1:00 p.m. ET
Rachael Ray isn't exactly the quiet type. So it sounds like this Christmas is going to be quite a shock for the TV chef.
Last night she told OK! that she's going to be temporarily silenced by throat surgery in December — and will spend the holiday writing out everything she wants to say on pieces of paper!
"I'm going to be celebrating very quietly," she told us at Rosie O'Donnell's Building Dreams for Kids gala in New York.
"I’m having voice surgery on the 16th and I have to be quiet for two weeks. Can you imagine? It will truly be a silent night!"
While she's recovering Rachael is going to write notes to her husband, John Cusimano, but it doesn't sound like she's going to have any less to say.
“I’m going to get lots of notebooks," she explained. "I'm going to get the callous I had in grade school back from writing!"
Rachael said that the surgery to fix a problem with her throat — which has meant she suffers laryngitis-like symptoms on an almost weekly basis — is very simple and that she'll be back at work (and loud again!) by early January.
