Ratings Drop for America's Got Talent and Howard Stern Hints He Might Not Return Next Season

It sounds like big changes are in the works for America's Got Talent.

The competition show is huge for NBC so when ratings dipped by an alarming amount during the September finale, executive producer Simon Cowell and network execs decided to revamp the long-running series.

But there could be even more adjustments for AGT with regard to the judges.

Sharon Osbourne, who has been on the show the longest, has already left because she says the network fired her son Jack after he announced he has multiple sclerosis, and now Howard Stern may not be returning either, the Daily Mail reports.

"AGT is massively successful, but every TV show needs a refresh to make it the best it can be. At this time, there are questions over whether Howard wants to return. Neither of the Howards have signed up again yet, but it’s Stern who is being vocal about the fact he may not come back," a show source said.

"It will certainly depend on who the new third judge is. Simon wants every detail to be perfect. He was buoyed by the success of the last Britain’s Got Talent, where there were two new judges. Who knows – there may even be a fourth judge brought on to AGT like the UK."

Just last week, Howard said on his radio show that he realized he didn't need to be "all over the television" and that it's his "philosophy" to be grateful for the success he's had in radio.

Meanwhile, Simon and NBC has some time to figure everything out since auditions for AGT don't start for the judges until February.
